The rye pours a light amber and a light swirl provides long legs that don’t seem to ever want to hit the bottom of the glass. The nose provides notes of buttered sourdough, crème brulee, and bright bubble gum fruit. The first sip coats the tongue pleasantly with flavors of green apple, dark chocolate, wild strawberries, and white pepper. If you were to ask me the proof on this beauty I would come a good 10 points short of its 117.8 proof. It finishes with just enough heat to tingle but not enough to burn. This is, in short, a phenomenal rye whiskey and deserves a place on any rye lover’s bar.
