Valentine Cocktails to Love

February in Indiana can mean many things like Black History Month, Groundhog Day, the Super Bowl, Valentine’s Day, or horrible, cold, bitter weather that… we digress. The great news is there are no broken hearts here at Big Red Liquors over the list of Valentine Cocktails we have assembled that contain ingredients which are currently on sale!

This year, we scoured the Internet looking for cocktail recipes that not only provide that Valentine “spirit” but could be made using the amazing deals on some of the spirits, wines, and beers we carry. Some of these recipes have been transformed to reflect our Red Hot Deals, and one was made using the Maxwell Cocktail as inspiration.

Red Velvet Cake Martini

Here’s your chance to have your cake and get your buzz on too with this Valentine’s heartthrob of a cocktail! We suggest you make this with Indiana’s own, Grain Co. Vodka! With cream cheese frosting and red velvet cake mix, you won’t be disappointed with this cocktail, and you won’t be disappointed with Grain Co. Vodka by Cardinal Spirits.

Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan Float

This one may not exactly scream Valentine’s Day… but it could, depending on how you make and garnish this float – You have options, especially if you are a chocolate lover! Ingredients: 2-3 scoops of your favorite ice cream (we like Rocky Road), 1-2 glorious bottles of Lazy Magnolia’s Southern Pecan Nut Brown Ale, and 2-3 cherries 1 mint leaf for garnish. EASY. But this is where you can get creative. Try different ice creams or garnish with whip and sprinkles? You are the creator!

The Big Red Fizz

Made for two Champagne flutes, this cocktail was inspired by the Maxwell and transformed to give you a great tasting drink at an amazing price. The Big Red Fizz uses André Champagne or Sparkling Wines and Hendrick’s Gin which are both on sale this February. And at the price we have André, you can afford to experiment with different flavors and colors. And, if you want to go top shelf, you can use Schramsberg Blanc de Noir in place of André!

  • 5 oz Hendrick’s Gin
  • .75 oz Cucumber juice
  • .25 oz Cointreau
  • .5 oz Lemon juice
  • .25 oz Agave nectar
  • 6 oz André Champagne or Sparkling Wine or Schramsberg Blanc de Noir

Add all the ingredients except the Champagne to a large shaker and fill with ice. Shake well for 10 seconds and strain into two flutes. Top each with Champagne and chill the rest of the bottle in an ice bucket. While drinking, top with more Champagne as needed.
