5 Champagne Cocktail Ideas for Your New Year’s Eve Party

Nothing rings in the new year like a bottle of champagne or sparkling wine. The unmistakable pop of the cork, the beauty of bubbles rising to the top of the flute and the wonderful sound of clinking glasses makes the best celebration. Here is some news that will be sure to bring a smile to your face. You and your guests don’t have to wait until the ball drops before you enjoy a bit of the bubbly this year!

You can make your New Year’s party about more than the liquor and beer. Throw in a classy champagne cocktail option. Need some inspiration? These are five of our favorites (and there is certainly something for everyone here):

The Classic: Champagne Cocktail

  1. 1.   Chill your champagne flutes
  2. 2.   Place a sugar cube in the flute
  3. 3.   Add 2 or 3 dashes of Angostura bitters
  4. 4.   Fill the flute with Brut champagne
  5. 5.   Squeeze and add a lemon twist on top
  6. 6.   Take an amazing Instagram photo

The New Year’s Standard: Barbotage

  1. 1.   Add 1/2 ounce cognac or other brandy to a flute
  2. 2.  Add 1 teaspoon Grand Marnier
  3. 3.  Top off with Brut champagne
  4. 4.  Give a tear-jerking toast

The Beer-Drinkers Cocktail: Black Velvet

  1. 1.  Fill half of a Collins glass with your favorite stout beer
  2. 2.  Slowly fill the glass with champagne
  3. 3.  Gently stir
  4. 4.  Nod approvingly as the skeptical party goer enjoys their first sip

The Party: Aristocrat Sparkling Punch

  1. 1.  Add one bottle of red burgundy and ½ cup of sugar to a punch bowl
  2. 2.  Gently stir in 4 ounces of brandy
  3. 3.  Pour in 2 bottles of Brut champagne and 1 quart of sparkling water
  4. 4.  Place a block of ice in the bowl
  5. 5.  Slice and add 2 oranges and a cup of strawberries (or whatever berry blend you enjoy!)
  6. 6.  Turn up the music to drown out the sound of clinking glass around the punch bowl

The After-After Party: Mimosa

  1.  1.  Stir 1 part Brut champagne to 1 part pulp-free orange juice
  2. 2.  Optional: Add a cherry, strawberry or grenadine for an extra fruity kick
  3. 3.  Reminisce about the amazing party the night before
