It is what it is...and it IS delicious!

Sun, Sep 18, 22

Es Lo Que Hay is a Spanish expression that means “it is what it is”.

This wine is sourced from 75 to 100 year old vines that grow at 3,000 ft above sea level in rocky, Pizarra slate and quartzite soils in northeastern Spain where rainfall is 7 to 8 inches annually. (insert My Fair Lady Joke Here). Organically grown, unirrigated and withstanding the extreme temperature swings of the continental climate, this wine takes this phrase to an existential level by expressing the elements that are present in the vineyard, through the wine.

In order to preserve this precious and unique profile, the grape bunches are separated, crushed in an open cement tank and fermented in a modern version of amphorae. This ensures an unadulterated expression of the fruit that produces an elegant Garnacha with complex mineral, garrigue, smoke and black fruit flavors. The essence of the place it was grown, or essentially: It is…what it is.

This wine has a great concentration of dark fruit, some black pepper meat notes and an underlying ore mineral component that pairs well with a variety of cuisines. From lamb to mushrooms, aged or wash-rind cheeses and a definite charcuterie friend, this wine is sure to make your transition into fall a welcome and tasty experience!
